Rear Brakes — 2 ½ Hrs
The brake install went smoothly.
I installed the brake cams on the wrong sides. Pulled them out and reversed them and reduced my billed time.
The rear wheel hubs are absolutely worn out. The keyways are too big, and the tapers have been spun on the axle. The brake drums are also worn in a way that shows that the brake shoes have been rubbing on the inside of the drums.
I will find replacement hubs and drums.
I installed the emergency brake rods. They needed major adjustment to fit the new brake shoes, probably because the original shoes and drums were so badly worn.
The radiator has been delivered to Border Package Pickup in Babb, Montana. It was a bit of a coin flip deciding where to send it. I decided on Babb because of unknowable tariffs and border broker fees , I haven't had good experience with Canada Customs and U.S. Customs bureaucrats regarding cross-border fees.
When I sent the speedometer to the States for repair, I received a bill for tariffs going into the States. If a tariff was required, it should have been paid by the American who was doing the repairs. A tariff should not have been required in the first place. The fee was only $14, but I would hate to be extorted for a 50% tariff on the radiator.
